Ferrari executive director Benedetto Vigna welcomes the arrival of Lewis Hamilton at the Scuderia. According to him, the integration will be rapid and the motivation of the seven-time F1 world champion will obviously be crucial for his team.
“There is excitement, a great desire to start, to face the tests” Vigna said. “Change is always important and Hamilton got back into the swing of things. I loved reading his message on Linkedin at the start of the year, a strong message not to lose hope in all areas.”
“With him and Charles [Leclerc]we’re going to have fun. A guy who has won seven titles can bring so much. If I talk to Fred [Vasseur, directeur de l’équipe]he highlights his ability to give technical advice, but not only that.”
“He has a great desire for change, he is not afraid. At 40, he got back into the swing of things. He has embraced a culture that is different in many ways from Anglo-Saxon culture.”
“For me, this post on Linkedin reminded me of the moment when Indro Montanelli [célèbre journaliste italien qui a fondé le journal La Voce à l’âge de 85 ans à la suite d’un désaccord avec Silvio Berlusconi en 1994] decided to change at the age of 80. I found it beautiful.”
-The Italian is pleased with the progress made by the Maranello team over the last few seasons, particularly since the arrival of Frédéric Vasseur: “Last year, during the last race in Abu Dhabi, I personally thanked the whole team, from Fred Vasseur to the mechanics: I am proud of the work accomplished.”
“Now there is a good atmosphere. It is clear that we always have to maintain it, that is the beauty of the Ferrari spirit: it always pushes you to go further. This will give us new impetus. Lewis will learn things from us and we will learn things from him. It’s like dancing, the important thing is not to lose the rhythm.”
