Moto2 – Deniz Oncu’s first part of the season is already over

Red Bull KTM Ajo returns to action after a three-week break, but will be without one of its two riders. While Celestino Vietti arrives at Assen with the ambition to continue to progress after a great performance in Italy, Deniz Oncu for his part is forced to withdraw before the start of hostilities due to injury.

The two Red Bull KTM Ajo riders are currently going through very different emotions. Celestino Vietti is in better form than ever this season, having equaled his best result at the Italian Grand Prix. The Italian gained confidence and began to fight for better results as he occupied tenth place in the drivers’ standings.

On the other side of the garage, however, Deniz Oncu is going through a tougher time. The Turk will miss the next two meetings following an operation on his left hand, undergone two weeks ago, from which he has not yet fully recovered.

In both the Netherlands and Germany, Oncu will be replaced by Marcel Schrötter. The German already has experience in the intermediate class, having competed there between 2012 and 2022. He will therefore use these stints to put his experience to good use and try to achieve the best possible result.

“First of all, I want to thank KTM, Aki Ajo and all the sponsors for thinking of me to replace Deniz for these two races, he confides before the start of the weekend. I want to wish him a speedy recovery. At the same time, I want to thank my current team for letting me ride here. Riding in Assen and especially at the Sachsenring is great news for me, and I can’t wait to be back in Moto2.

I think it will be very nice to have more time on the bike to progress, poursuit Schrötter. I did some testing a few days ago with Moto2, and it’s a pleasure to work with this team. I will try to help them with my experience as much as possible. I want to do a good job, do my best and fight for a good result too. »

The team has enjoyed a fair amount of success at Assen in the past, with two victories at the event coming courtesy of Raul Fernandez (2021) and Augusto Fernandez (2022). Remy Gardner (2022) and Brad Binder (2019) have both claimed second place under the team banner, while Pedro Acosta finished third last season.
