Legislative elections 2024dossier

The three-time presidential candidate won in the first round in the 11th constituency of Pas-de-Calais. She is expected to resume her role as head of the parliamentary group in the Assembly.

From the first round, Marine Le Pen found her seat in the hemicycle of the Palais Bourbon. The voters gave him “does the honor of [la] re-elect in the first round”, she announced during her speech in Hénin-Beaumont, shortly after the announcement of the national results. With 57.88% of the votes, the outgoing MP for the 11th constituency of Pas-de-Calais leaves her competitors, the socialist Samira Laal, for the New Popular Front (25.83% of the votes), far behind her. and Dorian Lamy, Union of Independent Democrats (UDI) candidate (7.72% of the vote). A tour de force for Le Pen, who has never feared for her seat, located around the town of Hénin-Beaumont where Jordan Bardella totaled 61.42% of the votes on June 9 during the European elections.

Established for several decades in the department – her first election to the regional council dates back to 1998, she has been a member of parliament since 2017 – the three-time presidential candidate was not taking a big risk. Back in the National Assembly, she will take over the leadership of a parliamentary group that will probably be much stronger and, in the event of an absolute majority, let her protégé Jordan Bardella take the reins of Matignon.

It will therefore be up to her to prepare and pass the laws that the future Prime Minister would implement, while exposing herself less than her younger brother in order to arrive in good shape for the 2027 presidential election. She will also have the task, new for the leader of the far-right party, of having to deal with a more diverse coalition than the previous group. If LR President Eric Ciotti manages to form his own collective in the Assembly, it will be up to her to negotiate the terms of the agreement with him. And if, next Sunday, their alliance totals a little less than the 289 seats needed for an absolute majority, it will be up to her to rally the few missing deputies. A role of shrewd parliamentarian that the former presidential finalist has discovered and appreciated since the arrival of 88 of his flock at the Palais-Bourbon in 2022. And which has the advantage, once again, of being less exposed than that of Prime Minister. Le Pen will need a little discretion: on September 30, the trial of her party’s parliamentary assistants will begin in the European Parliament, where she is being prosecuted. Not Bardella.

As soon as they are published by the Ministry of the Interior, find all the results by constituency of the first round of the 2024 legislative elections on the Libération website.
