The Saumur Carousel returns for its 174th anniversarye edition, July 13 and 14, 2024. For two afternoons, several parades are offered to the public. Here is the program: the entertainment times are the same on both days.
A for aubades
The opening of the two afternoons of the carousel is done with the serenade of the fanfare of the 6the Angers engineer regiment. She will wander through the streets of the city to invite visitors to follow her and go to the village
explains the communications officer. On Saturday, the village is scheduled to open at 2 p.m. and on Sunday at noon. The band will also perform at 3:30 p.m.
D for demonstrations
At 2:15 p.m., the military equestrian section will offer a demonstration in the riding school, and at 3:45 p.m. there will be a hand-to-hand fight. At 5:20 p.m., the Cadre Noir will enter the arena, on the Chardonnet quarry, followed at 5:40 p.m. by a civilian parachute jump. At 6:10 p.m., there will be combined arms demonstrations that the public will be able to observe.
N for novelty
If the 174e edition is very similar to the previous one, there is something new this year: the holding of a concert performed by a military band “La musique des transmissions”, at the Le Dôme theater. Rendezvous is set for Friday July 12 at 8:30 p.m., to attend this musical moment, performed for the benefit of the wounded of the armies. The funds raised have been donated in full since 2011 to three associations: Terre Fraternité, Entraide Marine and the Air and Space Army Social Works Foundation.

Tickets are on sale at the Saumur tourist office for €10 and €5 for reduced rates.
S for military book and comic book fair
A military book and comic book fair will be held over the two afternoons (from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.) at the Cavalry Museum, free for the occasion. This year there will be two stands, one of which will be occupied by a specialist publisher.

T for table
At 5:50 p.m., a dynamic tableau of the tank museum will be presented. The theme this year? The 80e anniversary of the Landing. The opportunity to see old and more modern tanks parade, presented by the military.
V for village
In the village, located on Place Charles-de-Foucauld, in front of the riding school of the equerries and in front of the cavalry museum, there are many stands presenting the different military sections. There will also be a stand run by Les diables bruns, who offer historical reenactments. For children, there are free walks and inflatable courses.
