“If I’m here today, it’s to prepare for the 37 km of the world trail, which takes place next Sunday,” explained Brest’s Loïc Thépaut after crossing the finish line as the winner. “I found myself alone at the front of the race at the 4th kilometer,” added the man who won the 14 km of Plougastel-Daoulas last May. From then on, the die was cast. The Brest native, who on the track was timed in 15’13 over 5,000 m, crossed the finish line, his son Yaël in his arms, with more than two minutes ahead of his runner-up, Quimper’s Hervé Moyroud. If the Brest native obtained an easy victory on the slopes of Menez Kelerc’h on Sunday, what can we say about Gwénaëlle Guillou’s victory in the women’s race! Almost a sprint for the one who, in 2019 in Amiens, had obtained the title of French champion of the 100 km, after having completed the distance in 8 h 10′ 03. Her main rival was ultimately behind by almost 20 minutes.

David and Richard on the “court”

“This is only my second victory,” said Marina David, who won the 10 km race. On the other hand, among the men, Erwan Richard added a new trophy to a very rich list of achievements. “It was better than yesterday,” confided the athlete from Bannalec, second the day before in Coray. “I took the lead at the end of the first kilometer. I am currently preparing a 42 km trail, with an elevation gain of 2,400 m, in the Alps. This trail will take place on July 14.”
