Archistoire allows users to discover remarkable places through 360-degree panoramas, old photographs, maps and enriched audiovisual content. It aims to make architecture and heritage accessible in a fun and educational way. In March 2023, the Ministry of Culture launched a call for projects to promote digital mediation around labeled buildings. The CAUE 64 was one of the five national winners, with its project for Bayonne.

Tiphaine Tauziat, cultural mediator at the City of Bayonne, describes this journey as an invitation to rediscover the buildings that dot the city and to pay particular attention to the small details that make the capital of the Basque Country so beautiful. “It’s a journey of curiosity to learn more about the places we encounter every day. Another way to discover the city and its architecture,” she explains.

Exploration immersive

Pauline Sans, in charge of cultural action and communication at Bayonne city hall, highlights the advanced features of the application: “Thanks to Archistoire, visitors can see disappeared or invisible elements superimposed on reality and access fascinating anecdotes. Historical figures invite themselves into the landscape to guide visitors, while images and sounds recreate the atmosphere of the 1930s. This immersive experience is accessible to all and extends over 4 kilometers and 11 sites across the city.”

“Our objective is to promote the architecture and heritage of Bayonne to the general public,” explains Tiphaine Tauziat. “By exploring this story, users can discover the architects who have marked the city’s urban history and understand the architectural evolution of Bayonne over the decades. »
