Dozens of gendarmes and firefighters, a helicopter, volunteers… A large search operation was mobilized to find a 3-year-old child who had disappeared this Friday, June 29, 2024 in Saint-Cergues, a commune in Haute-Savoie located 5 km from Geneva, on the Swiss border. His parents would have lost sight of him in a few moments, around 7:30 p.m. The child was playing toboggan in the former colony center where he was staying, when he decided to follow the owner’s dog. The alert was given half an hour later. Around fifty gendarmes were deployed to inspect the surrounding area, assisted by a helicopter from the high mountain gendarmerie platoon (PGHM).
