Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., at Studio 703 bis rue de Lyon in Chalon-sur-Saône, a welcome drink was held for the people who will occupy seasonal jobs in the City of Chalon-sur-Saône, at the CCAS and at Grand Chalon during the summer season.

A ceremony which took place in front of an assembly of around forty people in the presence of Sébastien MartinPresident of the Grand Chalon, Gilles Platret, Mayor of Chalon-sur-Saône, Bruno Legourd3rd deputy in charge of health and social affairs,Adrien Philippe Monniot, Director of the municipal library, Philippe GaveauHead of Urban Cleanliness Service…

For this year 2024, 172 seasonal workers will be employed by the City of Chalon, the CCAS and Grand Chalon. An opportunity for these young people aged 18 and over to work in various structures in Grand Chalon (77 seasonal workers) such as: The Nautical Area, Marina, Waste Management Department… or the City of Chalon-sur-Saône (93 seasonal workers) at the Civil Registry, museums, libraries, neighborhood houses green spaces, roads, events and transport… but also at the CCAS (2 seasonal) for reception at the Senior Citizens’ Center… missions which began in May for some and which will end in September 2024 for others.

A ceremony which began with the speech of Gilles Platret,

Then Sébastien Martin’s speech (extracts): “Hello to everyone, young and old. There are a lot of young people and obviously it is for them themselves that this type of seasonal employment is aimed, but there are also more experienced people who are there for us, whether they are supervisors, trainers, department heads or elected officials present at your side. You said it, we have 172 seasonal workers and I would just like to emphasize this figure which represents almost 10% of the workforce at Chalon/Grand Chalon, to tell you that we could not function […] Indeed, this would harm the smooth running of the local public service that we represent, we the municipality and the inter-municipality gathered here together.[…] Tell you that we have been sharing Chalon/Grand Chalon for 12 years and that those who will be integrated into Grand Chalon will be in a community that is younger […] Because the intercommunality has just celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024 [ …] So the Grand Chalon has a lot of sports facilities, the Léo Lagrange stadium, the swimming pool, the Coliseum, the Marina… and the city also has a certain number of facilities but in proximity and with the associative, sports actors and therefore there is this complementarity and this human and close relationship with all the sports actors of the city of Chalon. You will also be a lot in the professions in the broad sense of the environment […] Some of you will work in these waste treatment services, water and sanitation, mobility and travel… but also for others in the field of solidarity with regard to the solidarity of one and all. others by going to work at the social grocery store […] As a result, for the Grand Chalon, there are 77 seasonal contracts, many of which will be in sports equipment, in the Nautical Space in particular, the environment, marina, social services, etc. […] What I also wanted to tell you is that you have made a choice, a choice that is not always easy, the choice of work during the summer season. You have made the choice not to laze around, not to leave but the choice of work. You have made the choice to acquire skills and this regardless of the department in which you are going to work. You are going to acquire human skills, technical skills… but also quite simply the skill of knowing what it is to work in a professional environment. When you are a student, you work alone or in a small group but in a professional environment, it is something else and this will be a definite asset for you, especially when tomorrow you apply not for seasonal jobs but for fixed-term or permanent contract jobs elsewhere. And then you will also discover the public service professions because we are also there, during this period, to give you an appetite or give you the desire tomorrow to cross the door of the Human Resources Department in order to respond to a job offer that will be proposed to you in the immense diversity of professions that we have spoken about, whether in the city of Chalon, in Grand Chalon or in the CCAS because we also need each year a hundred people among our three structures. So thank you all for having made this choice to be with us this summer. Have a great summer with us and great success in your seasonal contracts. Thank you!

This was followed by the welcome drink set up by the Town Hall protocol service.
