Alouettes 30 – Argonauts 20 | Record for Montreal, failed revenge for Toronto

The Alouettes remain undefeated this season, a feat the Argonauts can no longer boast of. The Moineaux won by a score of 30 to 20 in the Queen City. They obtained a ninth consecutive regular season victory for the first time in their history.

If revenge is a dish best served cold, it is perhaps the same for the defense of an Eastern champion title. Rather than going into the clash like lions, the Alouettes were patient. Methodical. Incisors. All this to bring down their swarm slowly, but surely on the Argonauts who are short of answers.

For the Alouettes, receivers Cole Spieker and Tyson Philpot and quarterback Caleb Evans stood out with a touchdown each. Quarterback Cody Fajardo for his part amassed 284 passing yards. More than 80% of his passes found takers.

But it is above all the Alouettes’ play in the defensive zone that we will remember. More particularly in the paying zone, where they managed to eliminate three attempts from their opponent. The Argonauts had to limit themselves to four field goals and a touchdown.

The Argonauts will still have two opportunities for revenge between now and the end of the regular season, notably in Montreal on July 11. The Alouettes, until then, will face the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday, July 6.
