“What do you want to start with?” Near one of the white tents of the Lorient Océans maritime festival, at the city’s fishing port, the Rollin family studies the program.
Until Sunday June 30, 2024, the festival offers all kinds of activities around the marine world: boat tours, concerts, knot tying workshops and introductions to water sports.
“I am very impressed to see the submarine Flora so close. I would like to take the time to visit the cells”insists Nicolas Rollin, pointing to the K3 block.
His wife Raphaëlle, for her part, wants to visit an old rigging. In front of themStar of the Kingbut it is rather the “Big four-masted sailboat over there!”the Santa Maria Manuela which attracts his attention.
The multi-activity pass for €8
Several primary school classes travel in small organized processions. Students learn about nautical activities, attend historical presentations and practice seamanship workshops.
On stage, the connections and instruments are checked. Throughout the festival, concerts resonate in the village. From bagad to jazz, including a fanfare and a DJ set, there is something for everyone.
Access to the village is free and open but certain activities require you to have a Sloop, a multi-activity pass for €8 sold on site.
Without a ticket or an entrance gate, this is the only way to estimate the number of visitors to the festival.
Approximately therefore, in 2023, Lorient Océans had welcomed around twenty thousand curious people.
