Baptiste Germain leaves Toulouse and signs for Bayonne for three seasons – Quinze Ovalie

French Champion with Stade Toulousain last Friday, Baptiste Germain has decided to wear the Aviron Bayonnais jersey next season.

The scrum-half has signed a contract until 2027.

A new beginning for Germain

On June 28, Olympic Midday had already announced that Germain’s transfer to Bayonne was on track. It is now official.

With one year left on his contract with the Rouge et Noir, Germain will leave Toulouse this summer to join Aviron Bayonnais. The Basque club made the signing of the 23-year-old scrum-half official on Monday. After stints at UBB and Biarritz Olympique during the 2022-2023 season, Germain has signed with Bayonne until 2027. He will replace Gela Aprasidze, who has joined USAP.

A list of achievements already well filled

With Toulouse, Baptiste Germain won two Top 14s and two Champions Cups. This season, he played 19 matches, including 8 as a starter.

His time at Toulouse was marked by titles and a successful loan spell at Biarritz Olympique in Pro D2. Germain was also called up to all categories of the French national team, from the under-16s to the under-20s. He has always been considered one of the best scrum-halves of his generation.

Bayonne: a new adventure

Bayonne, who finished 12th in the last championship, are counting on Germain’s versatility, capable of playing both scrum-half and fly-half.

The Basque club is strengthening with a promising and already experienced young player. During his loan at Biarritz, Germain progressed in Pro D2, often playing at fly-half. This versatility will be an asset for Bayonne until 2027.

Baptiste Germain therefore leaves the shadow of Antoine Dupont to seek a starting place and continue his progression in a new club. Bayonne offers him a great opportunity to show the full extent of his talent.
