The most followed sporting event in the world will begin in less than a month on the soil of the French nation. The date of June 26 was the moment chosen by Santiago Denia to reveal the 22 Spanish players who will compete in the competition. The list is made up of 18 players aged up to 22 and 3 players who are not subject to this age limit. A selection criterion which makes the task complex for the selector.

Spain in Bordeaux

The Spanish selection will play two matches in Bordeaux and more precisely at Matmut l’Atlantique, the first against the Dominican Republic and the second against Egypt on July 30. Spain is therefore the clear favorite in this group which is also made up of Uzbekistan.

Without Yamal but with two other gems from FC Barcelona

A great talent in Spanish football, Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal could have been part of the list with his 16 years under his belt, unfortunately, the player who is already playing the Euro with his country will not make the Olympic competition. But a Barcelonan can hide two others, since the two revelations of FC Barcelona of the 2023-2024 season, Pau Cubarsí (24 matches with FC Barcelona) and Fermín López who has 43 appearances with the Catalan jersey this season for 11 goals will be present. Other great hopes of Spanish football are also in the game with Álex Baena from Villarreal, valued at 40 million euros on transfermarkt and who is currently playing the Euro with the A, but also Pablo Barrios from Atlético de Madrid and Eric García author of an exceptional season with Girona.
