The Metropolitan Summer program promises to be abundant and committed

The opportunity “to showcase the metropolitan area and to showcase our local gems,” explains Christine Bost, president of Bordeaux Métropole. On the program: theater, dance, street arts, music, summer getaways, gourmet food… Certainly something to please everyone.

1 For music lovers, choice and concerts under the stars

Nine musical offerings await spectators thirsty for rhythm. The Aïla duo will offer several concerts in a natural environment, such as at the Haut-Lévêque hospital park in Pessac or at the Chantecler park in Talence. A true ecological commitment, this immersive performance aims to create a symbiosis between voices, instruments and sounds of the surrounding nature. Another innovative musical proposal and always in an approach of proximity to nature, that of the Compagnie des musiques telescopices: “Nocturnes”. In a deckchair under the stars, spectators will be able to enjoy the musical work of the five artists, played live through headphones (so as not to disturb the surrounding wildlife).

Among the “Unreleased Summer Shows”, the flagship category of the metropolitan event, Elliott Armen, son of the famous Yann Tiersen, will captivate the Square de la Croix du Sud in Bordeaux with his folk rock tunes, on August 7 at 8 p.m. . Little ones will also have something to enjoy in Metropolitan Summer. With “My shell is shelling!” » from the Gironde company La Naine rouge, which offers toddlers from 8 months to 4 years old the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the sound of the ukulele in a tale that evokes tolerance and acceptance of differences.

2 For the committed, poetic debates and plural reflections

Among the dozen committed, philosophical and scientific proposals, “Levez-vous pour les bastard-es” by the Okto company, which brings together six actresses, offers a lively reflection on identity. The play focuses on the story of Judith Shakespeare, sister of the one who is no longer mentioned, ready to defy the ban by going on stage in 1660. Two performances are scheduled, in Saint-Augustin and Saint-Médard-en-Jalles. Gender assignments also die hard in “Rose”. For an hour, the Notre Insouciance company will attempt to dissect the mechanisms of love with lightness, while mixing theater and songs. Six dates are planned for this purpose.

In a theater made of colored paper, the show “Terre!” » des Lubies, for children aged 3 to 7, will follow a group of penguins in search of a welcoming land. We will speak gently and poetically about refugees, but also about the environment and melting ice. 25-minute performances to discover in Blanquefort, Villenave-d’Ornon, Mérignac, Gradignan, Talence, Parempuyre and Ambarès-et-Lagrave. Also not to be missed are the “Poetic Meetings” of the Compagnie du tout vivant with “a speaker, a microphone, a platform” and that’s it. Three themes will be eloquently dissected: idleness, speech and algorithms and their excesses. Performances to highlight the power of words and instill lightness and hope.

3 For gourmands, two mouth-watering performances

Another originality of the Metropolitan Summer, two new culinary creations. Gang of Food is back at it again this year and returns with “Inti-me”, a tasty and multidisciplinary performance carried out by cooks, dancers, scenographers and musicians. To be enjoyed at the Floirac Observatory park on July 17 and at Place Chevelaure in Bouliac on August 21.

The Einstein on the Beach collective will also get into the kitchen to cook up sound cuisine on a plancha. On the menu: two text seasoners, a note mixer and three sound improvisers. A cuisine to listen to on July 15 in Saint-Aubin-de-Médoc, July 31 in Ambarès-et-Lagrave and August 22 in Bruges.
