the essential
After Stade Toulousain’s success in the Top 14 final on Friday June 28 in Marseille against Bordeaux-Bègles (59-3), the international hooker responded to the New Zealanders’ invitation.

The Club World Cup, which has been in the pipeline for several seasons and is scheduled for 2028, already has everyone salivating. Because who wouldn’t want to measure themselves against the best teams on the planet? Starting with the Auckland Blues, recent winners of the Super Rugby, who have sent an invitation to the Toulousains via X (ex-Twitter).

“And if now…” they wrote above two superimposed photos: that of the continental consecration of the Toulousains and that of their own. A message to which the mischievous Peato Mauvaka wanted to respond, posting in turn a photo of the Champions Cup accompanied by the Brennus and the following message: “@bluesrugbyteam What else? (Editor’s note: What else)”.

Mauvaka’s Instagram story responding to the Blues.

The New Zealanders added another layer on Saturday 29th, including all the other winners of the main club and provincial championships – Toulouse, Northampton (England), Glasgow (URC) and the Toshiba Brave Lupus (Japan) – with a “Lets us cook” (Editor’s note: Let’s do it).

While it is certainly not forbidden to dream and as tempting as the invitation may be, given the overloaded calendar, it seems obvious that we will (unfortunately) have to wait a few more years…
