“I really regret everything that happened.” Singer Kendji Girac spoke in a video published on the social network Instagram on Wednesday, returning to his gunshot wound at the end of April and giving his news. “I had developed bad habits, I got into a spiral that I wouldn’t wish on anyone,” he confided, facing the camera, assuring that he was “better” now.

“I got lost,” he adds. All that is not part of me, I am not a boy like that. » The winner of the 2014 edition of The Voice was hospitalized on April 22 near Bordeaux for a serious gunshot wound to the chest, which occurred while he was in Biscarrosse, in the Landes.

According to analyses, he was heavily alcoholic, at more than 2.5 g per liter of blood, and had consumed cocaine during an evening and a night of partying, during which he notably went to the casino with friends.

A procedure dismissed on Monday

“I want to apologize to you. As you know, I almost lost my life, the love of my family, my audience, my friends. My daughter almost lost her father. I don’t know what happened. I don’t plan on doing all these things again,” the singer continued.

“The most important thing is to learn from your mistakes, to get back up. The most important thing is to understand and get help so you don’t do it again. That’s what I’m doing today,” he added, saying he was happy to have a “second chance.” He praised the medical staff, as well as the investigators and the public prosecutor for “working hard to understand this situation.”

The circumstances of the singer’s injury remained unclear.
