Reading a QR Code on your Android smartphone or tablet will become even simpler thanks to this new Google feature of which we finally have a demonstration.
THE QR Code are very practical on a daily basis, but reading them sometimes requires several operations on your smartphone Android. Google is planning to solve this, as you will discover in the video below.
How to read QR Codes in one click
We already knew that Google was preparing a new way to read QR Codes, and today we have a first look at how it will work. This new way of doing things will be based on the “Circle to search” feature that is already deployed on the Galaxy S24 as well as the latest Google Pixel smartphones. As a reminder, this involves launching a search by simply selecting with your finger what is displayed on the screen. Here is what the feature looks like, which was able to be activated in the beta v15.25.32 of the Google application.

Today, if you use the “Circle to search” feature on a page with a barcode or QR Code, Google will simply offer you others, which is not very interesting. With the new reading feature, the tool scans each QR Code on the page to offer you a link that allows you to open the page attached to the image in one click.
To perform this action, it was until now necessary to take a screenshot, then use the Google Lens tool present in the gallery to scan your screenshot. Much less intuitive handling than that presented above. We immediately see the interest that this can present for the QR Codes that you can receive, by email for example to activate an eSIM.

Most smartphones today integrate an application to read QR Codes or offer it directly from the photo application, but are primarily intended for “external” barcodes which are not displayed directly on the screen.
