Boney M. and a football match on the big screen, scheduled for the music festival in Saint-Lô

Euro football obliges, the elected officials of Saint-Lô have decided, for the 2024 music festival, which will be held on Friday June 21, to broadcast, on a Big screen, the Netherlands – France match. It will be followed, around 11 p.m., by a concert headlined by none other than Boney M.

The biggest event in town

“We said to ourselves that we could not ignore the broadcast of the match,” said Matthieu Lebrun, advisor. The latter hopes that this new edition of the music festival will attract as many people as usual. That’s no less than 20,000 people. “We are rarely below for this event, the biggest in the city. »

Disco set from 11 p.m.

The match will therefore be broadcast from 9 p.m., on the green beach. But from 7:30 p.m., two Local DJs will liven up the space. And throughout the city, as is customary, around forty groups of amateur musicians will provide entertainment for the evening.

After the match, around 11 p.m., it’s time for music on the big green beach scene, with the legendary Boney M. headlining, “with a singer from the original group and former backing vocalists”. “They’re going to cover all their big hits. »

Ottawan, Chris and Gwendal Marimoutou

Boney M. will be preceded by Chris, from the Gibson Brothers, from Ottawa (DISCO) and Gwendal Marimoutou. The former of The Voice has already come to Saint-Lô for the music festival.

You will also find, in front of the Société Générale, the students of the Urban Dance Studio of Doudou, for a stage dedicated to hip hop demonstrations.

“As the square in front of the town hall is still under construction, the groups should also invest in other places, such as in front of the theater or even near La Source,” confides the elected official.

Cost of the evening: €62,000.
