From one generation to another, the Renault Scenic has changed radically. It was said that the fourth generation, from 2016, had become a little “SUVized” compared to the previous one. What can we say about the new one, with a radically different design, which loses the single-volume, minivan-style side to truly take on a crossover role. But above all, it has become 100% and exclusively electric! While the transition to zero emissions (at the tailpipe) is not easy for everyone, the new Scenic has a compelling argument: autonomy. Up to 625 km, one of the best vehicles currently on the market! But to take full advantage of it, and despite an attack price that displays a rather attractive price/performance ratio (from €35,990 ecological bonus deducted), Sometimes you have to look into the options to make it even more interesting. For you, here are the 5 options to check (or uncheck!) in the configurator of the new Renault Scenic E-Tech.

1. Navigation pack with integrated Google

If you opt for the entry-level Renault Scenic, that is to say the 170 hp version with what the Losange firm calls “comfort autonomy” of 430 km, and in Evolution finish, then you won’t have access to one of the vehicle’s most useful features. Not only will your central screen be 9 and not 12 inches (from the Techno finish), but above all you will miss the integrated Google services. We therefore advise you to opt for the Navigation Pack, billed at €1,000, because in addition to the integrated Google Maps navigation, like on your smartphone, This adds the very successful route planner as well as the automatic preconditioning of the battery before arriving at a fast charging station. Practical when traveling! And incidentally, you will also have the induction phone charger.

2. Optimum charge 22 kW

Renault is making a strong showing by being one of the first to offer a 22 kW on-board charger in alternating current. While the vast majority of competitors only offer 7 or 11 kW, this option allows you to charge more quickly on the 22 kW terminals, which are the most numerous in the country. A real asset, especially if you don’t have the means to charge it at home! The problem is that Renault charges a high price for this option: €2,000. So, yes it is expensive, but it will save time when charging at a public terminal. An option, the most expensive in the catalog, which will not necessarily suit everyone – perhaps you will not need it if you plug in every evening –, but which can be particularly recommended for the Scenic with “small” autonomy.

3. 360° 3D camera and driving aids

It is under the barbaric name of “Augmented Vision & Advanced Driving Assist pack” that Renault offers a number of driving aids in a single pack. We are talking here about the rearview mirror with digital camera function, not essential although practical in difficult weather conditions, but also and above all the 3D Vision 360 camera which allows you to display the surroundings of the car when parking. Hands-free parking is also part of this, as is secure occupant alert, blind spot warning, rear detection with emergency trajectory correction and even reverse parking exit warning with braking. automatic emergency. Offered from the small engine/autonomy in Techno finish, this pack is also found on the Scenic with 220 hp and 625 km of autonomy. Regardless of the model chosen, it costs €1,000, which, given the number of functions it adds, is as interesting as it is practical on a daily basis.

4. Opacifying glass roof

This is arguably one of the most impressive options on the Scenic E-Tech: the Solarbay opaque glass roof. What we found a few years ago on the most luxurious cars, Maybach in particular, and is currently only available from Porsche, is making its first foray with a so-called “generalist” manufacturer. In addition to having a panoramic glass roof to let in light, you can also make it opaque in successive layers as needed. Available only on the top-of-the-range Techno finish with the Esprit Alpine option (standard on the Iconic option), the opaque glass roof is still priced at €1,500, a little more expensive than a simple panoramic roof or a “classic” opening roof.

5. 19-inch rims

We end with a free option! This is the possibility of abandoning the 20-inch rims on the most high-end version to go down to a 19-inch rim. Now, it’s true that in general the look is nicer with larger rims. But the design of the 20-inch diamond-cut rims of the Scenic E-Tech 220 hp Long Range Techno finish Iconic option – yes, that’s its full name – is quite special. You have to like it. Who said “assume”? As with electric vehicles, smaller wheels are generally more efficient, and comfort in general is also better. So, unchecking the 20-inch rims really doesn’t seem like a sacrifice.
