Legislative elections in Dordogne: Horizons candidate who came third withdraws in the Périgueux constituency

There was a great deal of uncertainty in Dordogne before the second round of the legislative elections: there will be no triangular in the department.

After the defections of Michel Delpon in the 2nd constituency and Jean-Pierre Cubertafon in the Périgord Vert, it is the turn of Clément Tonon, Horizons candidate invested by the presidential camp in the 1st constituency of Dordogne, to throw in the towel. The second round will therefore pit Nadine Lechon of the National Rally against the rebellious Pascale Martin.

No voting instructions

After initially announcing that he would remain in the race on the evening of the first round, Clément Tonon stated in a press release that in view of the “serious national issues, It would not be responsible to drag the voters who trusted me into a fight with no end in sight.“. However, he does not clearly call for a vote for the rebellious candidate nominated by the New Popular Front, Pascale Martin.

I still believe in the alliance of a majority of moderates from the left and the right in the service of our country, I still believe that we can write a republican future in our constituency. The time will come to realize this promise with all men and women of good will.“, adds the now ex-candidate.
