Drama. On Saturday evening, in the Bocca district of Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes), a wedding celebration was cut short when a four-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle on Chemin de la Bastide. The party was being held in a building overlooking the street and the child was clearly near the roadway when the accident occurred, just before 9 p.m.
Immediately alerted, the emergency services were unfortunately unable to do anything to save the little victim. She was in cardio-respiratory arrest when the firefighters and the emergency services arrived. As for the driver in question, he alerted the police before fleeing, explaining that he could not stay at the scene for fear of being attacked by the crowd.

This did not prevent the police from arresting him later in the evening, at his home in La Roquette-sur-Siagne, ten kilometers further north. He was taken into custody and subjected to a double alcohol and drug test. The initial results were negative. He should be charged shortly with “involuntary manslaughter”. Four wedding guests, in shock, were also taken care of by emergency services. In total, 35 firefighters were mobilized for this intervention.
