A wealthy Londoner on Tuesday promised a generous reward to anyone who can help police find around 10.5 million pounds (12 million francs) of jewelry recently stolen from her home.
On the afternoon of December 7, a man entered through a second-floor window into the home of this art collector, located in the upscale Primrose Hill district of London, according to a police press release.
In the absence of its owners, he stole £10.5 million worth of jewelry, including a brooch adorned with diamonds and sapphires and a platinum necklace signed Van Cleef & Arpels, a Boucheron diamond and emerald necklace, as well as a Kelly bag from Hermès in crocodile worth 150,000 pounds and 15,000 pounds in cash.
Since then, the masked suspect, described by police as a ‘white man aged around 20 or 30, of medium build’ has not been found.
The owner of the jewelry, identified in the British media as Shaffira Huang, an art collector, now promises to reward anyone who can help the authorities in their investigation.
It offers 500,000 pounds (nearly 570,000 francs) to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect, and/or a sum equivalent to 10% of the value of the jewelry or bag for any information allowing them to be retrieved.
A large part (of the jewelry) ‘are unique pieces, and therefore easily identifiable,’ said the police, who called on possible witnesses to come forward.
‘If you have seen this jewelry since, if anyone has offered to sell it to you or if you have any other information, please contact the police,’ insisted the ‘Met’.
