“Our taxes are not well used”: here are the sectors which should be priorities according to Philippe Geluck

Philippe Geluck was Martin Buxant’s guest on Bel RTL Matin this Tuesday. The artist shared his view on the year 2024, and notably gave his point of view on taxes in Belgium.

During an interview in Bel RTL Matin, Philippe Geluck, among other things, returned to his “pride” of “pay a lot of taxes” in Belgium. Words that caused a reaction a few years ago.

“I continue to do it. (Today) I’m not proud, I’m a little ashamed of the way this is happening. Our taxes are not well used. I don’t know in which country this law exists anymore, but we can decide that part of the taxes should be allocated to education, national defense or agriculture. I would like to have this choice, because I have the impression of falling into a bottomless pit. and that this money is poorly managed.”

According to the cartoonist, this money should be able to be allocated to certain sectors. “Towards teaching, it is fundamental. Culture, because it is the link between everyone. And obviously, towards health. But it’s terrible, once you start thinking like that, and I understand the insoluble problem of politicians, it is that we need them everywhere. We also need to build roads, we need services. Perhaps we need a little less administration and a little less political staff. that we pay a lot of governments for such a small country.”

The artist is also regularly in , where political chaos is still current. “What could the French take from the Belgians to get by better? They could draw inspiration from our science of compromise. We have the impression that for them, it has to be decided by an absolute majority , period. But no, we can discuss. I’ll take an example. They want a law on retirement fixed at 62 or 64 years old.he concludes.
