Investigation chamber of the Orléans Court of Appeal

Indicted on May 21 to appear soon before the Loir-et-Cher Assize Court, a forty-year-old has been in pre-trial detention since July 5 for attempted murder in Blois in 2022. He recently unsuccessfully applied for release, according to a decision issued on June 27, 2024.

On July 5, 2022, late in the morning, the Blois police were called to find traces of violence on his ex-partner with whom he continued to live. Traces of blood appeared in particular on her dress and on her scalp, chest wounds from kitchen knife wounds justifying a 60-day ITT according to the forensic expertise. It was apparently an argument that degenerated in the kitchen. The 42-year-old man said: “My wife was rude that day and insulted me” while admitting that he doesn’t remember what he did.

Lack of empathy

The son of a Russian teacher and a stay-at-home mother, he came to France in 2012 after his father was killed in 2006 in a shooting in Grozny (Chechnya), which greatly affected him. Without professional activity, at the RSA, he consumes cannabis. Psychological expertise describes “latent impulsivity, difficulty in introspection and a certain egocentrism”.

He recongnizes “having lost my mind” and the second opinion reveals a state of post-traumatic stress due to the Chechen war. Four mentions appear on his record from 2015 to 2021 including violence, drugs and weapons possession.

His counsel, Mr.e Éléonore Terrien-Freneau, underlines the need “of a feasibility investigation of judicial control with bracelet at his mother’s home”. She recalls the assassination of her client’s father in front of him and in his place. She draws the court’s attention to ” the necessity “ of psychiatric care.

Julien Le Gallo, attorney general, insists on the victim’s deep injuries to the skull and abdomen. He recalls “the absence of empathy, impulsivity and the risk of renewal” of the suspect. He also points out his lack of employment and the possibility of flight. The court followed its requisitions.
