Ukrainian troops appear to be strengthening on the Belarusian border.

On June 20, the State Border Committee of Belarus reported a significant increase in Ukrainian military forces on the border.

For his part, Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, had defended that the Ukrainian Forces were protecting the sovereign territory of the aggressor and that “there is no provocation” on their part.

This June 29, the Belarusian Ministry of Defense is sounding the alarm: in recent weeks, Ukraine has massed troops on the border, mined territories and erected technical barriers. The situation, described as “difficult”, is on the verge of turning upside down, reports the Ukrainian media hromadske. No “provocation” has yet been reported, but the tension is palpable.

Mass deployment

Pavlo Muraveyko, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and First Deputy Minister of Defense of Belarus, draws a worrying conclusion. The situation on the border with Ukraine “changes every day, and not for the better.” On the Ukrainian side, an activity “unfounded and still incomprehensible” intensifies, presaging dramatic developments, he warns.

Ukrainian special forces of the 1st Presidential Brigade were reportedly deployed in the town of Ovruch, Zhytomyr region. Vadym Lukashevich, commander of Belarusian special operations forces, reports a massive deployment of US infantry fighting vehicles, rocket launchers, long-range heavy artillery and other equipment to this region.

“Provocations”

Belarusian special units are on high alert. “These elements constitute real threats, capable of infiltrating our territory with sabotage and intelligence groups, ready to carry out provocations.”, warns Pavlo Muraveyko, the chief of staff of the Belarusian army. Tensions are rising dangerously with troop movements and flights of Turkish “Bayraktar” drones observed near the border.

Andriy Severynchyk, head of the Belarusian air defense forces, denounces constant violations of Belarusian airspace. The increased presence of the Ukrainian army, equipped with drones and weapons capable of striking deep into Belarusian territory, increases pressure on the border.

Severynchyk issues a solemn warning to Ukrainians: “We are ready to resolutely use all our forces and means to protect our territory and our population from potential provocations in our airspace.”
