24h Le Mans heute – Startphase: Dritter Ferrari takes the road, BMW fails after an accident occurs

Führungswechsel, Strafen und rste Collisionen: Die 92. Auflage der 24 Stunden von Le Mans verlief wie erwartet turbulent. The last name of the car is the #50 Ferrari 499 P (Fuoco, Molina, Nielsen) of the 62 year old car. Ferrari-Werksfahrer Nicklas Nielsen hatte das Rennen vom dritten Startplatz aufgenommen und schon in der ersten Runde die Führung von Pole-Setter Laurens Vanthoor im #6 Penske-Porsche (Estre, Lotterer, Laurens Vanthoor) übernommen.

Strafen für Ferrari

Das Glück sollte dem #50 Ferrari allerdings nicht lange hold bleiben: Während der ersten Boxenstopps nach der 12. Runde wurde es bei der Ausfahrt eng zwischen Nielsen und dem #3 Cadillac von Sebastien Bourdais – zu eng für den Geschmack der Rennleitung, die dem # 50 Ferrari wegen eines Unsafe Release eine 10-Sekunden-Zeitstrafe für denächsten Boxenstopp aufbrummte.

Damit kassierte also of the Ferrari-Prototyp and its Rennstrafe: The Schwesterauto with the Start number #51 (Pier Guidi, Giovinazzi, Calado) and the #83 Kunden-Ferrari of AF Corse hatten jeweils eine 10-Sekunden-Strafe aus dem Qualifying (Pitlane- Verstoß) mit ins Rennen genommen. Enges Verfolgerfeld in the Hypercar class

Rückschlag für BMW und Porsche

Einen ärgerlichen Auftakt erlebte der #15 BMW M Hybrid V8 (Dries Vanthoor, Marciello, Wittmann): Der zweifache DTM-Champion Marco Wittmann verlor nach 20 Minuten die Kontrolle in Tertre Rouge und schlug in die Leitplanken ein. The WRT-Mannschaft must have front-wheel drives on BMWs, but they must be running smoothly.
