Guest of BFMTV-RMC this Monday, June 24, the Minister of National Education, Nicole Belloubet, assures that the result of the legislative elections will not disrupt the 2024 school year.

No change in sight between now and September. The Minister of National Education Nicole Belloubet affirmed this Monday, June 24 on BFMTV-RMC that the legislative elections will not modify the measures taken for the 2024 school year, prepared for “a long time”.

Asked about the establishment of “need groups” in all colleges, Nicole Belloubet affirms that there will be enough teachers to provide these courses, indicating that “2,300 and some jobs (…) have been assigned to these groups.

“Of course, the start of the school year is prepared,” says Nicole Belloubet.

In a note entitled “Shock of knowledge, a new ambition for college”, published on March 18, the Ministry of Education had in fact announced the establishment of “groups” in order to “to raise the level of all students” in mathematics and French at college, starting next school year.

“This will be the return to school that I have prepared”

In the event of a victory for the National Rally in the legislative elections, the Minister of National Education also indicates that the conditions for returning to school will not change.

“It will be the return to school that I prepared myself,” she adds.

The Minister of National Education assures that there will be teachers in front of all classes at the start of the school year, recalling that in addition to regular teachers, contract staff are recruited.

Concerning the number of missing teachers, Nicole Belloubet indicates that “everything depends on the academies”. “The competitions are full in the west and south of France,” she assures. “We are in a little difficulty in Versailles and Créteil.”

In order to respond to this problem, National Education has decided to “resume the initial training of teachers” by allowing them to take the teaching exam at Bac+3 and to follow “two years of training” where they will benefit ” a bonus and remuneration to learn their trade and obtain a master’s degree. “It’s a complete overhaul, it’s a project of excellence and clarity there too,” she concludes.
