For almost 40 years, Jazz door develops his project around jazz and improvised Music.
Labeled “Current jazz music scene with an international vocation” in 2013, Jazzdor is supported in this mission by a four-year convention bringing together the Drac Grand Est, the City of Strasbourg, the Grand Est Region and the European Community of Alsace.
Neither consensual nor radical: promoting current jazz
Jazzdor strives to highlight the singularity of jazz creation, particularly French and European, whether it is rooted in the soil of historical jazz or nourished by new aesthetic trends.
Promote artistic complicity
Jazzdor encourages the emergence of musicians as much as it supports the most innovative projects of artists with established careers. Whether they come from the regional, national or international scene, Jazzdor promotes and provokes interactions between musicians and offers the public unique opportunities for musical discovery.
From local to international
Jazzdor operates across a large territory by partnering with places dedicated or not to live performance and jazz, locally as well as on the other side of the Rhine. The attention paid to Franco-German dialogue owes less to its geographical location than to the voluntarism of Jazzdor, which strives to invent real models of cross-border collaboration. This involvement in the creation of a cultural network, both local and international, establishes a strong particularity of Jazzdor in the cultural landscape.
Invite to discovery
Jazzdor carries out public support actions, aiming to increase the number of entry points, to desacralize, by approaching it, the act of creation, to modify some of the prejudices surrounding jazz and its contemporary forms, and thus contribute to the expansion and renewal of audiences.
