The Yesterday School Museum celebrated its 20th anniversary at L’Échelle

It is in the premises of the Château de L’Échelle that the Museum of the School of Yesterday created in 2023 by Louis Mailliot celebrated its twentieth anniversary, one year late.

The current president, Jacques Péchard, and friends of the museum had concocted an attractive program for these two days of festivities.

They passed the school certificate

Saturday June 8, 2024, 17 candidates worked on the tests for a study certificate consisting of dictation, writing, calculation, history, geography and science. The diplomas were presented to the winners in the afternoon.

Sunday June 9, 2024, the president of the magazine Terres ardennaises gave a conference on the theme of “Two Ardennes children witnesses to the Great War”.

Alcohol duplicator

Throughout the day, workshops and activities illustrating the methods and materials used by teachers of the last century were offered to visitors. The activities consisted, among other things, of using an alcohol duplicator, the ancestor of the photocopier, of writing with a pen, of reading aloud or even carrying out manual work.

It was a plunge into the lives of their grandparents or even their great-grandparents that the youngest visitors were able to take.
