Two festivals canceled in Aude due to inflation and lack of visibility of public funding

The Music’al Sol association has just announced that it is giving up organizing this year the Boleg’al Sol and Régal Sound festivals, planned at the Arènes de Trèbes.

An announcement made “with great regret”. Through a press release, the Music’al Sol association has just formalized its decision to cancel the 2024 editions of two festivals planned at the Arènes de Trèbes: Lo Boleg’al Sol which should have taken place on June 7 and 8 , and the Régal Sound which was scheduled for September 6 and 7. The current context, which we know is all the more delicate for the world of culture, will have got the better of these events this year.

We are strongly impacted by inflation and the fragility of the associative sector

“The costs inherent in organizing these open-air events, whether on the technical, artistic or even security side, as well as the lack of short-term vision on public funding, do not allow us to take the risk of maintaining these two events”specifies the association. “We are faced with difficult choices, and we have decided to favor our new season at the Salle du Bal à Aude in Trèbes”. A monthly concert evening starting in October: such regularity requires a certain level of resources… and currently, this requires making choices.

“Like many structures in the world of culture, we are strongly impacted by inflation and the fragility of the associative sector, continues the press release. The financial difficulties that we must face, as well as the lack of long-term vision on our financing, forces us to fundamentally rethink our economic model, so as not to endanger the sustainability of an association which has existed since 2003″. In short: on these two festivals, for 2024, “we are forced to give up… for a while”. Music’al Sol promises that “this is only a postponement”affirming “act as best you can to bounce back”. And adapt to this contradictory period, where the need for culture clashes with the realities of the moment.
