This Sunday, December 29, is Yoann Richomme which is still in first place in the sailing round the world rankings where 36 skippers, out of the 40 at the start, are still in the race.
Yoann Richomme, who took the lead in the Vendée Globe nine days ago after an incredible comeback in the South Pacific, is however still under threat of Charlie Dallin which, on Sunday December 29 at the 11 a.m. check-in, was 48 miles behind.
On the 49th day of racing, nothing is decided in this 10th edition, but it is a safe bet, barring major damage, that one of these two men currently in the South Atlantic off the coast of Brazil will win the race, because their lead over the pursuers is significant.
Sébastien Simon, long in contact, but handicapped by the loss of a foil in the Indian Ocean, is now 560 miles from Yoann Richomme.
It is then a very tight group which goes from 4th place held this Sunday, December 29 by Thomas Ruyant to 10th place by Justine Mettraux.
On the other hand, all hopes of recovery are now lost for Yannick Bestaven, the winner of the previous edition having been the victim of bar damage. According to forecasts, the arrival of the winner in Les Sables d'Olonne could take place between January 15 and 20.
