It will be possible to buy an Apple Vision Pro in France starting this week, as Apple announced during the last edition of its WWDC. However, the arrival on the headset market will take place in two-stroke, similar to what the iPhone can experience every year in September. First of all, pre-orders will open and everyone will be able to reserve their copy online. A few days later, deliveries of the Apple Vision Pro headset will begin alongside availability in physical stores.
Recall that the device was recently released in Asia, after being exclusive to the American market since its announcement in June 2023 during WWDC and its initial release in February of this year. It runs under the visionOS operating system, delivered with many apps already well known to iPhone or Mac users: FaceTime, Pages, Keynote, etc.
When to order the Apple Vision Pro in France?
In summary, here are the two pieces of information to remember:
- Friday June 28, 2 p.m.: Apple opens pre-orders for the headset. From this date, at the indicated time, you will be able to purchase the Vision Pro on the Apple website.
- Friday July 12: official release of the headset. It will be available in the Apple Store and in third-party partner stores (Fnac, Darty, etc.). In addition, early buyers should, if all goes well, receive delivery that same day. A release date unknown for a long time
The release date of the Apple Vision Pro had already been announced for the first time during the Worldwide Developer Conference in 2023. Apple, the organizer, then explained that the device would be released the following year. But that was just the release date for the US market. No more precise timetable had been communicated for the rest of the world for many months. This was without counting on an additional announcement, coming directly from the mouth of Tim Cook. In March 2024, the CEO of the Apple firm explained that the release date of the Apple Vision Pro was set for the current year, but only for China.
For many months, until now, we thought, without being sure, that the same agenda awaited us regarding the release date for France and the rest of Europe. In any case, this is what the Taiwanese analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, often well informed on this subject, suggested. He will have been right: the mixed reality headset will indeed be available from us in 2024.
Also good to know: although the release date was indeed confirmed very recently, be aware that the Apple Vision Pro may not be available at the same time if you go too late to access pre-orders. We thus know that although the release date has been set (January 19) for February 2 for the United States, local consumers will have quickly seen delivery times of several weeks appear. The fault, it is said, is too limited stocks in stores.
Technical sheet and price of the Appe Vision Pro
At the same time as the release date, please note that Apple has announced the price of the Apple Vision Pro for mainland France. It turns out that the device will be billed there for no less than 3 999 euros, a tidy sum. You will have to add a few dozen euros for a pair of glasses adapted to your eyesight.
Before revealing the release date, you should also know that Apple took the time to reveal to us the complete technical sheet of the Vision Pro. We know that the device comes with two 4K screens, probably designed by Sony. This definition is excellent for observing the image very closely, which is necessarily the case with a virtual reality headset.
In terms of performance, know that the Apple Vision Pro is powered by a R1 processor dedicated to augmented reality and by another chip. This is the M2, which is also found under the hood of the eponymous iPad Pro. A chip that is a little dated, since its release date corresponds to 2022 on the first equipped devices (Macs).
It is rumored that Apple is also preparing a more affordable mixed reality headset. However, we do not yet know its release date, for the moment. But this could coincide with the year 2027. Note, moreover, that this device could also be more comfortable than the Apple Vision Pro. On the other hand, performance should be revised downwards compared to the current model.
