Voting or traveling, what is the choice of tourists? Many of those who have maintained their travels have decided to reconcile the two by making a proxy. More than two million voters have already taken this step throughout France. Meeting with vacationers in Ariège.

“Basically, I didn’t plan to leave, says Lionel, who came from Agen, in Lot-et-Garonne. It was at the last moment, I said to myself “ah but yes there are the votes!” It was a bit natural to tell me that I had to make my proxy, assures the young man to our team of journalists, who came with his partner Maëlis. “I was very surprised, it’s done very quickly online. And then, we submitted our paper in two minutes to the police station”describes the young woman.

Three-quarters of the proxies were made online for these elections. But for other tourists, letting even a trusted person vote for them was not an option. And for this, they are even ready to shorten their stay.

“We made the choice to cut our weekend short to go and vote. It’s important that we are the ones who vote, alone,” insists Aurélie.

Powers of attorney or early departures. These initiatives should contribute to a record participation today which was already expected to be higher according to the first figures announced this Sunday noon by the Ministry of the Interior.
