Several hours after the leaders' arrival at the Bisha bivouac, the result of the second stage of the Dakar 2025 was modified. Initially winner of this 48 hour format, Yazeed Al Rajhi must leave his property to the Lithuanian driver Rokas Baciuska and his co-driver Oriol Mena.
Aboard their Toyota Hilux, the two men were ranked in the top 10 of the stage, but they benefited from a time credit granted by the marshals. It turned out that they had lost 12 minutes in the refueling zone after encountering a problem there that was not their fault.
With this bonus granted by the commissioners after having received a report from the FIA delegates present on site, they therefore inherit their first stage victory by passing Yazeed Al Rajhi, relegated to 2'43 (including two minutes of penalty for speeding in a limited area). Nasser Al-Attiyah fell to fifth place in today's special, 9'12 behind Rokas Baciuska (including a four-minute penalty for speeding).
Several other competitors were also recredited a few minutes after the incident in the refueling zone, including Juan Cruz Yacopini for the members of the top 10, or even the defending champion Carlos Sainz, who however remained at 1h26 after his many troubles.
This change of stage winner, however, has no major impact on the general classification at the end of this second act of the Dakar 2025. The top 10 remains unchanged, with identical gaps between the leaders. Rokas Baciuska is in 23rd place, 2h09 behind new leader Henk Lategan, since he lost a lot of time in the first stage on Saturday due to mechanical problems.
Finally, remember that the third stage will start on Tuesday from Bisha, direction Al Henakiyah, but in a shortened format due to the storms raging in the region.
