Change of scenery! Since mid-December and for several months, the Blanzy roller club has been rolling in Saint-Vallier. Renovation work on the Lucie Aubrac school gymnasium, its usual room, has just started and will last until around April. Since the announcement of the work, the distraught Fun Roller Blanzy has searched in all directions to find a place capable of accommodating him during this complicated period. It was finally Saint-Vallier who opened its covered market to him.
Everyone gave a big “phew”, even if it was necessary to adjust the times of the adult sessions, moving from Tuesday in the evening to Wednesday at the end of the day. What a relief to be able to continue driving: how can we imagine an interruption of several months during the year, especially in the middle of winter? Rolling outdoors and independently is one of the purposes of the FRBB, a leisure club above all, but roller skating is preferably practiced on dry ground. After use, Funrollers also really appreciate the space in the hall, which allows them to push themselves to peaks of speed that are impossible in the Lucie Aubrac gymnasium. The differences in the surfaces of this new place are also, ultimately, an educational and fun asset: skaters can adapt the different techniques they use (braking, skidding, momentum, etc.).
On the other hand, logistics must follow: without walls to protect yourself from the cold, you have to wear warmer outfits, and even gloves under the protection. The supervisors also bring with them, to each session, all the equipment usually stored within easy reach in the gymnasium: swings, slalom blocks, hoops, etc.
The prospect of finding a brand new gymnasium in Blanzy at the end of spring is another reason for celebration.
The Fun Roller Blanzy Bourgogne welcomes all levels and all ages. It is still possible to join the club. The sessions take place until further notice at the Saint-Vallier covered market, on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for experienced young people and on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (young beginners then adults).
