2024 had been a very bad year in the Gers in matters of road safetywith 16 deaths on the department's roads. 2025 has started very badly. With one death as of January 3 (a biker on the RN124 at L'Isle-Jourdain). But also monstrous speeding.

The police had pulled out all the stops to chase away dangerous behavior in recent days.

Several very serious speeding violations on Sunday

On the night of December 31, 2024 to 1is January 2025, 26 offenses including 12 for driving under the influence of alcohol and 3 for driving under the influence of drugswere thus noted.

A record with a Porsche

And above all, among them, a motorist controlled at insane speed at the wheel of his Porsche 911 GT 3. 255 km/h!

Remember that, in Gers, you cannot drive more than 110 km/h on any road. The driver was therefore traveling at a speed more than twice the maximum authorized. A peak that cannot be reached than on circuits with racing cars. And yet, not even all of them.

An Englishman

This is perhaps a record for the department, especially when, remember, there are not even motorways in the Gers.

The check was carried out around 4 p.m., on the RN124 commune of L'Isle Jourdain, direction -specifies the Gers prefecture to News. Or very close to the scene of the motorcyclist's fatal accident. The driver is “an English national, residing outside ”.

He of course had his vehicle confiscated and his driving license was immediately revoked. The driver is also prohibited from driving on French territory for 6 months and is subject to a criminal order accompanied by a fine.

A Peugeot 307 at 172 km/h

Note that, a few minutes later, at the same place, the police intercepted a Peugeot 307 at 172 km/h. Its driver received a administrative suspension of driving license for a period of 5 months.
