Be careful on the roads in the cold. Five departments in the North of France are placed on orange snow-ice vigilance on Wednesday January 8 from 3 p.m., according to the Météo France morning bulletin published Wednesday. This alert level concerns the departments of Nord, Oise, Pas-de-Calais, Seine-Maritime and Somme, and is valid until 12 p.m. Thursday.
Throughout the episode, “we expect snow accumulations of 5 to 10 cm in general, locally 10 to 15 cm in Hauts-de-France, and even peaks of around 20 cm in the Pas-de-Calais department”details Météo France. “Dangerous phenomena are expected. Keep yourself informed of developments and follow the safety advice issued by public authorities.”alerts the forecaster. Snowfall “could occur on the southern margins of the departments placed on orange vigilance”, but “without great consequence” with the exception of Aisne, estimates the organization.
