Real Madrid will exercise the option to buy Joselu Mato before the end of the month, reports Fabrizio Romano. The 34-year-old has agreed to move to Qatar, but Real Madrid will facilitate his transfer.

Espanyol president Mao Ye had noted that Qatari club Al-Gharafa would have to negotiate with him if Los Blancos did not exercise their €1.5 million option to buy Joselu Mato, but Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that is indeed what they will do.

Previously it was reported that Real Madrid would not get involved as they wanted to keep Joselu, but the latter has now signed a two-year contract with Al-Gharafa. Romano claims that the Merengue will then sell him to the Qatari club for the same price.

Real makes everything easier

It seems that Real Madrid carried out the operation as a favor to Joselu. It could have delayed things if Espanyol had demanded a much larger sum, and they could also have demanded it themselves. This way, Joselu will not have to wait for Al-Gharafa to negotiate with the Catalan club.

It is also a way of making room for Kylian Mbappé, who is currently playing the Euro with the Blues, while Real will count the French and the Brazilians Endrick, Rodrygo and Vinicius in its attacking squad next season.
