After a first sixteen-year lease at SM Caen, Jean-Marc Branger returns to the Norman club. The physical trainer left Stade Malherbe for a last-minute stay in Ligue 2 in spring 2021. He replaces the one who replaced him: after a little more than three seasons in , Benoît Pickeu leaves SM Caen.

Jean-Marc Branger will therefore find Nicolas Seube. The two men know each other very well, the second having had the first as a physical trainer during his playing career. Branger will work in tandem with Emmanuel Lepresle, with the ambition of contributing to the recovery of SM Caen in the short term, then to a Ligue 1 objective that he has already achieved in the past, under Patrice Garande.
