As every year since 2012, the national wood construction prize, organized by Fibois , has rewarded exemplary architectural works in the sector. Innovative, creative, sustainable and above all reproducible, the winners of the 2024 edition show an active sector, ready to respond to the challenges of construction.

The national jury was very attentive to the costs of the achievements so that the projects were accessible to as many people as possible and in line with the budgets committed.“, declared Jean-Marc Meyer, president of Fibois France, specifying that “[de] more and more projects integrate the notions of reuse, repurposing, recycling or upcycling, supporting project managers and project owners, methodically, within the framework of the circular economy“.

The Saint-Denis aquatic center obtains the special prize

By awarding the special prize to the Saint-Denis aquatic center, the jury wished to reward a “extraordinary work representative of French know-how“. Created by Ateliers 2/3/4, the building highlights biosourced materials, modularity and reversibility of uses.

Wood was used to create the structure of the building, particularly the frame. This is a particularly innovative achievement: “The structural qualities of the wood respond to the compressive and tensile forces required by the 91 catena of the curved roof, each measuring 55cm thick with a span of 90 meters, suspended every meter, without false ceiling and use of superfluous materials“, explain the project leaders.

In addition to the aesthetic and structural qualities, the use of wood made it possible to respond to significant energy and acoustic challenges.
