– LVMH's director of human resources and synergies, Chantal Gaemperle, “was laid off with a view to her dismissal”, following an internal investigation, according to information from La Lettre published on Thursday.

Contacted by AFP, the luxury goods group LVMH did not comment.

Chantal Gaemperle, HR director of the group for 17 years, “was escorted from her office on the eighth floor to the door of the headquarters at 22 Montaigne by security agents of the group”, recounts La Lettre.

According to this specialized media, this layoff “comes after an internal investigation of several months carried out by the general administration and legal affairs teams”, which were “particularly interested in the accumulation of benefits in kind received from the 75 houses of the group” (Louis Vuitton, Dior, Moët Hennessy…).

Chantal Gaemperle, 62, is also a member of the LVMH executive committee.

This layoff comes after several changes in the governance of the world number one luxury company headed by Bernard Arnault.

At the end of October, the CEO of the “selective distribution” division, which includes Sephora, Le Bon Marché, la Samaritaine and the luxury giant's “duty free” activity, Chris de Lapuente, also a member of the executive committee, took his retirement.

A new deputy financial director, Cécile Cabanis, has joined the executive committee and will succeed the group's current financial director, Jean-Jacques Guiony. (AFP)
