This is a major opportunity for the city of Pontarlier. From Saturday November 9, contemporary works by 12 French artists and 12 Chinese artists are exhibited in the Annonciades chapel. An exhibition which then falls within the framework of the Franco-Chinese year of cultural tourism 2024. “This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between France and China,” says Pierre Magnin-Feysot, president of the Franche-Comté association of Franco-Chinese Friendships.
Discoveries of Chinese technique
Calligraphy, painting, sculpture, watercolor, photography… The various works were first presented in the spring in the city of Hefei located in the province of Anhui, in China. After a long journey, they return to Franche-Comté lands. Among the works of 24 artists, visitors will have access to Chinese and French cultures. In particular, they will be able to discover their Chinese techniques, whose artistic conception is sometimes intended to be different from French works. “Chinese artists use very cutting-edge technical elements,” says Bruno Mejaldi, exhibition curator. Fan Fu'an, for example, combines traditional lacquerware art with modern Western painting techniques. In his work La maison dans la montagne, we notice a very marked attention to detail, with, among other things, shards of egg shells delicately inserted into the work.

“Enrich yourself culturally”
With 100,000 visitors in Anhui province, the organizers of the Pontissalian exhibition hope to welcome a large audience. “Today, we are noticing a tendency to withdraw into oneself,” indicates Pierre Magnin-Feysot, “initiatives of this nature allow us to look at others and enrich ourselves culturally. » An event which also brings visibility to the Pontarlier side, “it’s a beautiful door which opens on an international scale”, confirms Claude Bertin-Denis, president of the CRIC.
