A 25-year-old Singaporean student died in a fatal altercation in the center of Brussels. Two 18-year-old suspects were arrested.
The events took place around 2:30 a.m. this Thursday, November 7. Police in the Brussels-Capital-Ixelles area received an emergency call for a stabbed man. The police provided first aid until paramedics arrived, but unfortunately, the victim did not survive, despite being taken to hospital.
“The victim is a 25-year-old man of Singaporean origin, who was studying in Belgium. According to the first elements of the investigation, it seems that the victim was approached by two suspects, and that a discussion led to a stabbing“, communicates the Brussels public prosecutor’s office. According to Sudinfo, the student was accompanying two friends who live on rue Saint-Pierre.
A judicial exclusion perimeter was set up on the scene in order to safeguard the traces. “The police also informed the duty magistrate of the Brussels public prosecutor’s office, who requested an investigating judge. Both went to the scene this morning“, adds the prosecution.
Two suspects
A forensic doctor was also requested as well as the laboratory of the federal judicial police. “The investigation quickly identified two suspects. They are two men, aged 18. This morning, searches were carried out at their homes, during which they were deprived of their liberty. At this stage of the investigation, the exact circumstances of the facts must still be clarified. In the interest of this investigation, no further comments will be made“, further indicates the prosecution.
