Six-day-old newborn thrown from car seat by two careless people

Two careless young people who allegedly tried to flee the police caused a spectacular pileup and sent seven people to hospital on Saturday evening, including a newborn baby aged just six days who was thrown from his seat.

The young 18-year-old driver and his minor passenger “could face charges of fleeing, dangerous driving and possession of prohibited weapons,” says the Newspaper Adam Marineau, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The two suspects were later released for the crimes they allegedly committed last Saturday.

That evening, around 8:30 p.m., patrol officers from the SQ de Mascouche observed that a black sedan engaged in several “dangerous behaviors” on Highway 40, eastbound, in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough. . They were then located near Boulevard Christophe-Colomb.

Then, when the police tried to intercept the vehicle at fault for its road safety code violations, its driver allegedly fled at full speed.

Municipal environment

A short chase of approximately two kilometers then began.

“Considering the situation, the police stopped their interception maneuvers when the vehicle entered a municipal area,” says Mr. Marineau.

For his part, the young motorist would have continued his race for a few hundred meters before ending it abruptly by hitting two other black cars and a Société de transport de Montréal (STM) bus head-on, at the intersection of the rue Jarry Est and boulevard Saint-Michel.

Walk

But the two young offenders would not have stopped there. They allegedly fled on foot in order to evade the authorities, without success.

They were quickly pinned down by police who set out on their trail.

After being met by investigators, they signed a promise to appear in court at a later date.

Furthermore, no less than five adults and two minors were transported to hospital for minor injuries after this event, confirms Urgences-santé.

“We transported a minor in emergency mode. We were concerned about his state of health,” said his spokesperson Julie Gaulin.

Six days

According to our information, this is because it was a baby barely six days old at the time of the incident who was ejected from his seat.

Fortunately, he was only transported as a precaution, we are told.

A second call was later made to emergency services to transport an eighth individual linked to this collision to hospital. It could be one of the suspects.

Reconstructionists were dispatched to the scene over the weekend to establish the causes and circumstances of the event.
