PleasrDAO, a cryptocurrency company which had acquired the mystery album for the modest sum of US$4.75 million, offered the public to listen to an encrypted version of the work for $1. Currently only 5 minutes are available.

The company explained on X that each sale will shave 88 seconds off the album’s release date. The latter is scheduled for October 8, 2103.

The announcement of the release of “Once Upon A Time In Shaolin” caused a tidal wave on the music scene in 2015 since the members of the Wu-Tang Clan had placed the album in a time capsule whose opening was planned in 80 years. This coup was done to make the public think about the value of music.

PleasrDAO was able to get its hands on this coveted item after its former owner, controversial pharmaceutical entrepreneur Martin Shkreli, was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2018 in a fraud case.
