Commandant Saint-Barth, on TF1, mixes tropical atmosphere and quirky policeman, with a regular in supporting roles who is gaining rank…
A paradise island in the Caribbean, a fanciful cop like Belmondo, crazy investigations and colorful characters: welcome to the world of Commander Saint-Barththe TF1 detective series which was scheduled from Thursday November 21, 2024. The actor Florent Peyre plays an investigator truly unlike any other.
Sixteen years after leaving his native island, Gabriel Saint-Barthélémy makes his comeback as police commander. As soon as he sets foot on the ground, he must already put on the warming blue: the lifeless body of a young woman, Tina, has just been found perched at the top of a coconut tree. What could this beachgoer, popular with tourists, have been the victim of? This is what the hero will try to discover, operating according to his own very unorthodox methods.
Because “Saint-Barth”, as the locals call it, doesn’t do anything like everyone else. Having grown up in the largest resort on the island run by his father, he knows every nook and cranny and enjoys tapping into the incrustation at any opportunity to carry out his investigations. An approach which does not fail to confuse his new team, in particular his young colleague George Mondésir (Philypa Phoenix). Between improbable hideouts, eccentric disguises and spectacular fights (including a striptease in the first episode!), the commander will stop at nothing to solve the cases.
For lovers of Criminal Tropics…or from HPI ?
Over the course of 6 episodes of 52 minutes of Commander Saint-Barthwe will therefore follow the investigations of this funny character, under the experienced leadership of Denis Thybaud, the director of several seasons of Criminal Tropics on France 2, which this fiction clearly wants to compete with. To embody his fanciful hero, he called on Commander Saint-Barththe TF1 detective series, seen recently in Breadcrumbs but also in many films like Crazy Raid or Ma Reum Rather accustomed to supporting roles, he gains here a tailor-made character, commensurate with the wacky and extroverted characters he likes.
Alongside him, we find faces well known to viewers. Joyce Bibring, noted in A suspicion on Arte, will play Avril Rosier, a lawyer and ex of the commander. Élodie Frenck, the Baccara commissioner, will try to bring Saint-Barth into line. But also Philypa Phoenix (Balthazar), Roxane Brett or Yannig Samot (Red Bracelets). Without forgetting the sumptuous landscapes of Guadeloupe, a true heavenly setting for the intrigues of this series.
After HOI, TF1 is also trying a new step towards the quirky cop character. Commander Saint-Barth will undoubtedly mark not for its screenplay, but for the communicative energy of Florent Peyre, whose humor and fantasy explode on the screen, and attempts to subvert the codes of police comedy.
