After the hero and one of his allies, now place his enemies. And not just any one since we discover Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult in the new “Superman”.

WARNING – This article may contain spoilers as they relay photos from the set of the next “Superman”. Please move on if you wish to know nothing.

Very present on social networks to deny false rumors about the next DC films (and we thank him for that!), James Gunn unfortunately cannot do anything about the set photos of his Superman which have been popping up on the Web for the past few days . And for good reason: the shots take place outdoors.

If we had already had a glimpse of the costume of the Man of Steel played by David Corenswet in an official photo, the photos allow us to discover other characters. Like Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), future ally of the hero, in an outfit close to the one he wears in the comic books.

Today, it’s the bad guys’ turn to show themselves. And in particular the most famous of them: Lex Luthor, to whom Nicholas Hoult will lend his features, after having applied to play Superman. Like Cillian Murphy, who became the Scarecrow after aiming for the role of Batman.

Seen in blue in the Fauve’s fur in Marvel’s X-Men, he therefore moves to DC with another iconic character. And the photos taken on the set show whether he shaved his head to play Lex Luthor.

The answer is therefore no, because we can clearly see that the actor will sport a fake bald head, cracked with scars that are intriguing. Just as much as these other photos in which we see other characters.

These are the villain The Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría), Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo, who reprises the role he will play in the animated series Creature Commandos expected in 2025) and a mysterious black silhouette.

A few months ago, James Gunn denied the rumor that, in the scenario, Lex Luthor would use the hero’s DNA to give birth to a clone: Ultraman. A rumor that is now making a comeback in the face of this character visibly strong enough to keep a Man of Steel handcuffed.

Unless it is Black Noir, for a totally unexpected and lunar cross-over with The Boys, these set photos may have revealed information that James Gunn would have liked to keep secret. And that he could confirm in the first trailer.

Otherwise, it will be in our theaters, where this Superman will be released on July 9, 2025.
