this theory about the new trailer is mouth watering

On the occasion of the day Star Wars Saturday May 4, Disney And Lucasfilm revealed a new trailer for the series The Acolytewhich will be released in June on Disney+. It didn’t take long for some of the fans to dissect the trailer to issue a theory interesting.

The last few years have been complicated for fans of Star Wars, who have not always been spoiled, especially in the cinema. The postlogy did not convince many people, and the spin-off Solo: A Star Wars Story was a huge flop. Since then, the franchise has deserted cinemas. We must therefore turn to other media, such as video games and television. In this respect, we can say that series The Acolytewhich will be released on June 4, 2024 on Disney +, is highly anticipated. In fact, Disney unveiled a second trailer this Saturday for “May the 4th”.

On the firm’s official YouTube channel, this trailer has already had more than 5 million views, and the reactions are rather positive, although Internet users prefer to remain cautious. Several had fun deciphering what they saw and coming up with their theories. One of them, notably shared on X and Reddit, wants the Sith lord that we see at the end (in the center of this poster), is actually Abeloth, an entity feeding on the dark side of the Force and which has never appeared on screen before.

And if the canon of Star Wars was once again inspired by the extended universe and in particular by “Legends” to fuel the saga? In any case, this is what some fans are convinced of. They indeed think that the Sith Lord seen at the end of the new trailer for The Acolyte would be Abeloth, a former human who became an almost immortal creature. After she bathed in the Knowledge Pool and drank the water from the Fountain of Power in order to no longer age, Abeloth was taken prisoner by the Family of Mortis, three Gods representing the dark side of the Force, its light side, and the perfect balance.

In the novels in which she appears, Abeloth finally manages to free herself and ally herself with the Sith, before betraying them. Being over 100,000 years old and no longer around the Sith, it’s hard to imagine her appearing in the series. The Acolyte. But for some fans, the Sith Lord’s helmet in the trailer, engraved with a terrifying “smile”, is enough to arouse suspicion. And for good reason, this gives him an appearance strangely similar to that of Abeloth, or rather to the representation that we have made of him: let us remember that the latter only appeared in the books and never on screen. Its appearance is therefore subject to change.

The theory that the Sith Lord from the trailer for The Acolyte would Abeloth has two other arguments in its favor, in addition to the visual aspect. First, Leslye Headland, the showrunner, has already expressed interest in the extended universe of Star Wars. Next, it is unknown if Abeloth is dead. The entity was defeated by Luke Skywalker and Darth Krayt, but was simply weakened and was able to flee. The son of Anakin and Padmé therefore sent Jedi to finish the job, but the novels never revealed the end of the story. Mystery, then.
