No less than 191 collection points will be installed from this Monday, January 6, 2025 to get rid of your Christmas tree in a simple and ecological way throughout the territory of the Lyon Metropolis.
The objective is threefold for the community: fight against illegal dumping, reduce the burden linked to waste management and recycle the fir trees collected into compost in specialized centers.
Fir tree collection points: what is accepted?
Natural fir trees, with or without a wooden base, are welcome, as are compostable bags marked “OK compost” or “Handicap International”.
On the other hand, artificial or flocked trees or even trees decorated with garlands are not accepted, nor are classic plastic bags.
In addition to the collection points, the region's 19 recycling centers remain available for deposits. The precise collection locations can be consulted on the Métropole website.
