A collision involving a heavy goods vehicle and a construction vehicle left one person lightly injured this Tuesday, January 7 on the N4 in Saint-Dizier. “A miracle”, given the state of the vehicles.
“It is certainly a miracle given the condition of the vehicle. » These words are those of Lieutenant Emmanuel Singer, fire officer on duty who directed the rescue operations, after the accident which occurred on Tuesday January 7, around 11:15 a.m., on the N4 in Saint-Dizier, just after the roundabout of Nations.
In the direction Saint-Dizier – Vitry-le-François, a construction vehicle from the Perrier company hits the back of a heavy goods vehicle. The Ukrainian driver of the Schenker company took the exit from the Esso gas station. The driver of Perrier's vehicle, aged 23, hit him head-on from behind.
“Normally, there should have been two”
“But the young man got out of the vehicle himself when we arrived,” continues the fire chief, obviously relieved, given the state of the van. The driver was transported for minor injuries, particularly to the forehead, to the emergency room of the Bragard hospital center. Relief can also be seen on the face of Denis Perrier, president of the family business, who quickly arrived on site. “The driver was leaving for a construction site in Vitry. Normally there would have been two of them, but in the end he told his colleague to meet him in the afternoon. It’s destiny…” Fortunately, indeed, there were no passengers at the time of the collision.
On site, in addition to the firefighters (road emergency vehicle and ambulance), agents from the DIR Est and the national police were mobilized to carry out the usual findings. The municipal police also came as reinforcements to block traffic at the Nations roundabout. Vehicles traveling in the Nancy – Paris direction on the N4 were necessarily diverted, including those coming from the D 635. The N4 joined via Villiers-en-Lieu.
Traffic will have been blocked for around 1 hour 30 minutes, time for the company Dépannage Michel, from Bettancourt-la-Ferrée, to free the vehicle from the road. The truck was stopped at the gas station.
