A figure in French politics and former president of the Front National, he left a mark, which some fight and others try to pursue.
The RN deputy for Rhône Tiffany Joncour pays tribute to him: “Jean-Marie Le Pen passed away, taking with him a significant page in French political history. A visionary on many subjects, he knew how to impose his ideas and shake up the public debate with force. His mark will remain. Peace to his soul”.
The former candidate for mayor of Lyon Agnès Marion also shares her memories with the Menhir.
On the left, reacting to the death of Jean-Marie Le Pen is more difficult.
“If Jean Marie Le Pen has died, his ideas of hatred, rejection of differences and withdrawal into identity are unfortunately very much alive. More than ever, we must uphold the values of the Republic”writes the environmentalist mayor of the 4th arrondissement of Lyon, Rémi Zinck.
Green senator Thomas Dossus is angry with the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior for having paid tribute to Jean-Marie Le Pen: “The shame and indignity to the end of François Bayrou and Bruno Retailleau. We therefore have a government which pays homage to a propagator of racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic hatred, to avoid the censorship of its heirs”.
